Friendship Banquet
On Wednesday night, February 16th our teens
will be hosting a friendship banquet to help
raise funds for their summer trip to CIY. The
banquet was formerly the Sweetheart's banquet
and many our fun traditions for the banquet will
carry on. We are now calling it the Friendship
Banquet because we want everyone in our
congregation to feel welcome to come whether
they bring a sweetheart, a friend, a neighbor or
come just on their own. It will be a great night
to laugh and talk and spend time with friends.
There will be food provided, entertainment
during the evening, and a great atmosphere to
come and enjoy a nice night out. The banquet
will start at 6:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm with
child care provided for families with kids. At
the end of the evening a free will offering will
be taken up which will go to help our teens on
their trip to Savannah, Georgia for CIY this
year.
30-hour famine
Did you know that every day on average 29,000
kids die from hunger and hunger related causes?
The teens in our youth group have decided to
take a stand and do something about the tragedy
that takes place in our world everyday. They are
doing the 30 hour famine which is an event that
teens all over the country participate in, in
which they fast for 30 hours and gain pledges
that are used by World Vision to help those in
need. You can join them in making a difference
this year by making a pledge towards their
famine. Each teen in our group has a goal to
raise $360, enough money to feed a child for a
year. What a great opportunity to change
someone's life forever. Our group will be going
to Andover Christian Church to participate in
the famine with that Church and Knollwood Church
of Christ youth group. Keep our teens in your
prayers as they take on this exciting challenge.
Wednesday night trip to New
Life Family Services
New Life Family Services with be hosting our
teens from discipleship on Wednesday night,
February 2nd. The teens will be going to visit
the NLFS building located at the University of
Minnesota to learn about the ministries that
they take part in there. They will receive a
tour and have an opportunity to speak to the
people who work there. We will be meeting at the
church at 6:30 pm that evening to leave and we
will be returning at around 8 pm. It will be a
great opportunity to learn about the importance
of life and about the people who are working to
try and preserve it through the ministry of New
Life. The trip is for teens in 6th grade through
12th grade and will take the place of our normal
Wednesday night discipleship meeting.
Minnesota Christian Teen
Convention

the Minnesota Christian Teen Convention. The

them down on your calendar and plan to go.
Everyone in 6th-12th grade is welcome to join us
for the praise and worship, the great speaker,
the games and fellowship and all the other great
stuff that takes place each year. A sign-up

Hangout
Beliefs and Goals
Light Force student ministry exists to shine the light of God's love and truth into the lives of students. We strive to deepen
students' relationships with God through worship and Bible study, to connect teens to each other through fellowship and fun, and to help students discover their gifts and talents through service and outreach.
In all our activities our goal is to fulfill the great commandment to love God and to love others as Jesus taught in Mark 12:30-31.
Friday Teen Night
Throughout the year we have a Friday night event for all students age 13 years and older called Teen Night. Students come and enjoy games, fellowship and friendship from 7-10pm each Friday night at New Brighton Christian Church. During the evening we also take time to talk about the ways God is at work in our lives. Each Friday night is a time to see friends, have fun, and hang out.
Check the activities list to the left for the Friday dates of the month that we will meet. Visitors and friends are always welcome to come and join us!
Wednesday Night Discipleship
During the school year we have a Wednesday night group study called Student Discipleship. From 7-8pm Teens gather at the Church for a time of praising God, studying his word, and growing in their faith. During our time together our Jr. High and High School students are divided into small groups for faith-deepening discussions. Godâs word is always at the center of our lessons and students are encouraged to grow in their faith as they search the scriptures. Check the activities list to the left for the Wednesday dates of the month that we will meet.
